The Environmental Health Team are responsible for a range of services which share the common goal of protection of public health. In terms of interaction with business, the key roles are:-

The Environmental Health team also engage with business by providing the following:

  • planning permission support
  • help and advice given on compliance with relevant legislation and operational guidance
  • prioritised compliance visits for food safety and health and safety, based on risk
  • 'Scores on the Doors' scheme for food premises and 'Elite Awards' which recognises and encourages food businesses to strive for excellence in food safety
  • Food Bite, a periodic e-newsletter of relevant advice for food businesses
  • a Landlords Forum where landlords can obtain information or advice and keep abreast of changes in the law and procedures
